Burlington is about to float away

It has been a very interesting Spring to far in Burlington. With the snow melt and a hefty amount of rain, everything is flooding! The lake broke a 100+ year record. The last time it was this high with this amount of flooding it was 1869. Currently the Lake is at 102.75 feet, three feet ABOVE flood stage. There are many roads closed and people being evacuated from their homes. Many of the summer "camps" aka cottages, are underwater. Below are some pics from our neighborhood and the bike path.

Charlie's Boathouse (a snack stand on the lake)

BEFORE the flooding

This picture was taken on Thursday, when I walked down there last night with Piper, the water was even higher. Notice the massive tire leaning against the tree (in both pics), it is now floating down the street.

This is the parking lot and boat launch at the end of our street, all under water now.

Perkins Pier BEFORE

Early Flooding..

This is the pier at the waterfront. Its about 1500 feet long, but you cant tell from this picture because it is ALL underwater

Some forgotton things...

So in my last post I did a recap of the past year, there were a few things I missed.

This past January, John started training for an Ironman! It's been a pretty crazy schedule. He works out about 16 hours a week, give or take. A lot of people ask how I am doing, considering he is usually working out and we don't get to do things together as much, especially on the weekends, but it has been OK so far. We are both fortunate enough that we can work out during lunch, as both of our employers have a gym and locker rooms. That lets me cook dinner at night, after his second workout of the day. If he goes to the pool, I go with him. This has been kinda cool too. Someone to swim with! So with that said, I have been swimming a lot more too, which I love.

Another fun thing I did in March was a girls weekend with my sister-in-law Julie and her cousin Renee. We had such a great time. Some highlights from the trip:
  • Shopping..this is a big deal when you live in VT and don't have department stores!
  • Amazing food
  • Top of the Rock
  • Sweet Revenge (cupcake and wine bar)
  • We saw "American Idiot" on Broadway
We have already started to talk about another girls weekend.

Has it really been THAT long?

WOW, almost a year since my last post, on Pac-Man's 30th birthday.
I was thinking how I hadn't posted anything is a long time, but had no idea it was that long.
A lot has happened in the past year, so here is a quick run down

-I had my first wedding shower and Bachlorette Party in Connecticut

July 2010
-Nate and Kara came for a visit over 4th of July weekend, which was one of the best weekends all summer
-I had my second (Vermont) shower and bachlorette party...for some reason I cannot find any photos of this.

-My work had an '80's prom themed Christmas Party, and the "Double Rainbow Guy" was there

January 2011
-It snowed alot. Not much else going on in the winter

February 2011
-Again, it snowed, we worked on the bathroom (yes the one we demoed in November 2009).
