One more week to go.

this past weekend

We went to Maine for the weekend with some friends to visit other friends. It was pretty fun, although we didn't do much. I was pretty bummed that we didn't get to explore Portland at all. I have never been there and really wanted to walk around and window shop. I guess that's what happens when you have kids. You stay home. Oh well. It was nice to see everyone.

This coming weekend we are headed to NYC for Halloween and to celebrate ME!
Can't wait to see all my friends. Not much else going on to report.

OH! Its supposed to snow tonight 1-2 inches. Need to put snow tires on car...

DUMB MISTAKE

I thought my flight today was at 2.50.WRONG. Its at 3.50.
AND I talked to the girl I am traveling with this morning and she told me it was at 3.50.
I am soooo mad at myself. I could've been hanging out at home for an extra hour, playing with the dog, eating a yummy lunch, not McDonalds on the go.

Jack is Piper's work buddy. He's a Rottweiler and very gentle. Really a great dog. They used to play a lot when they were younger, but not as much anymore. Now they usually just walk around the office, or sleep. I wish I was a dog sometimes.

Hiking Mt. Mansfield

This past weekend we hiked up to the top of Mt. Mansfield via the "chin". This is the highest point in all of Vermont. It took us 6 hours round trip. It was chilly when we left in the morning, about 30 degrees, at the top it was about 15 degrees or so..FREEZING!! There was a think layer of frost up there and it was a bit windy as well. Piper came with us too. She loved every minute of it, except for the temperatures up top. John had her inside his sweatshirt and jacket to keep her warm. It was like having a baby carrier on! Ahhh...what we have to look forward to one day.

It's about the documents you need for international travel. There are some new options for land and sea travel. You can get a Passport Card which fits in your wallet and is good for land and sea, not air, travel. Then some states are offering an enhanced drivers license, which denotes identity and citizenship for an additional fee. Right now only New York and Washington state offer this, but Vermont is going to start offering this soon. I think I might get one since we live so close to Canada. It will make it easier to travel there. I am also going to get a real passport, I mean just in case John decides to whisk me off on a surprise European vacation or something. haHa

A fall weekend_Saturday

On Saturday we went to the farmers market. We walked around for a little, listened to the band and that's about it. It was unseasonably warm out.

A Fall Weekend_Friday

This weekend my parents were up and we did all sorts of fall activities.

Friday we started the day off by going for a walk along the causeway, where we saw some great foliage.

In the afternoon we went leaf peeping down in Stowe and went to the craft fair that they have every year. Its a pretty good one. Afterwards, we went up to the mountain and went up on the Gondola to the top to see all of the foliage.

Something I cannot stand...

Annoyed

So I am a bit annoyed at some of my co-workers.
I bake cupcakes quite often and bring them to work, because I like to bake.
So this week I baked cupcakes for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and because I am volunteering at a walk next weekend, I thought I would try and raise some money for the walk (see last entry).

So, I sent an email to the company saying CUPCAKES...for a donation. I didn't specify any size donation. If all you have is a quarter cool, if you want to give more than that, even better. Normally the cupcakes would be gone by the end of the day. Everyone comes over to grab one. Not this time. I made 30 cupcakes, there are still 16 left (not including the two I ate)! Some people were extremely generous, I got on average $2 a cupcake, one of my friends threw in $10, for ONE cupcake. The ones that are donating, are the ones that probably make the least amount of money here.

I am so disappointed in my company right now, it really is bothering me. You are all too cheap to throw in a buck for a good cause. Now I know the economy is bad, but I am not asking you for $100. And I know we live in VT and therefore make S#@% for money, but you can find some change in your couch for a good cause.

To anyone who reads this, am I wrong to be disappointed?

Well, sort of! Stowe got about an inch of snow at the peak of Mt. Mansfield this past weekend!
And so the winter begins...in the mountains. Its still fall down here. PHEW!!

So today is really quiet at work. We have been so busy and we got everything out the door for a client and now we have down time. i hate down time. I am so bored. I have read everything I can online, watched last nights episode of Lipstick Jungle, booked a flight to San Fran to visit Heather in January, cleaned out my in box, cleaned my desk, brought Piper to the dog park, parked in a lot at the waterfront and read my book for a little...and its only 3.43.

My jaw still hurts from my wisdom tooth surgery and its really annoying. Its a constant dull pain, which makes the day even more miserable.

ANYWHO, enough about me, how about tonight?!?
The VP debate. Should be pretty interesting. If the Palin-Couric interviews are a preview to tonight, we are in for a real treat

So I finally planted our mums last night (hence the previous post). The yellow ones and burgundy ones are huge, the orange ones a little smaller. I think they look great outside the house.

A first time for everything...

I got stung by a bee for the first time yesterday. I then proceeded to run inside yelling for John, who was busy giving Piper a bath because she rolled around in a dead frog...YICK!

After I killed the bee that followed me into the house, I took my sweatshirt off and took my hair down, which is when TWO MORE BEES flew out of my hair!! It must have been quite a site for anyone that saw it.
