Hiking Mt. Mansfield

This past weekend we hiked up to the top of Mt. Mansfield via the "chin". This is the highest point in all of Vermont. It took us 6 hours round trip. It was chilly when we left in the morning, about 30 degrees, at the top it was about 15 degrees or so..FREEZING!! There was a think layer of frost up there and it was a bit windy as well. Piper came with us too. She loved every minute of it, except for the temperatures up top. John had her inside his sweatshirt and jacket to keep her warm. It was like having a baby carrier on! Ahhh...what we have to look forward to one day.

Getting higher...

and higher...

Almost to the top, some serious rock climbing ahead. We had to be careful because some rocks were covered in ice. If you look close you can see snow on the trees.
