Busy Weekend

This past weekend was packed full of activities...

Friday J and I drove down to Boston to meet up with my parents and go to the Sox game. This was my dad's Christmas present, he had never been to Fenway before. It was also my mom's first baseball game! She lived across the street from Fenway Park in college and NEVER went to a game. The game was good, it lightly rained most of it, but it wasn't bad. We ended up leaving at the top of the 8th though, when it started pouring. Good timing too, they went onto a rain delay for a little under an hour at that point. We went back to the hotel and watched the end of the game there, Sox won 6-5 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.

Another exciting thing about Boston...our $90 hotel room. We decided to try "name your price" on Priceline.com. We got rooms at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge for $90!! Our room was nice and we had a river view :)

The Charles River

Saturday morning we all drive back to VT and then we had a great dinner with my parents and J's parents at the house. We ended up drinking 6 bottles of wine. Crazy Night.

Sunday my parents headed back to CT, J and I ran some errands, getting ready for all of our guests for next weekend and then we went on a sail with his parents and Bro for his dad's birthday...

TIME TO VOTE

What color should we paint our bedroom??

A few things to consider:
1. The bedroom is large
2. It is very bright. Sun is shining in it all day.

Here are the choices
A.) Chateau (taupe)
B.) Elephant Skin (Grey #1, on the left)
C.) Creek Bend (Grey #2, on the right)
D.) Guacamole (Green)
E.) Cool Dusk (Blue)

Summer Time Cupcakes

I made these for book club last night, the decorating was super easy.
Brown sugar for the sand, mint for the beach ball and some blue dye for the frosting. You could also use blue decorating sugar for the water. I used it on the mini-cake at the bottom of the picture.

For the actual cupcakes, I made this recipe from cooking light. They were really good and not too sweet.

An Amazing Weekend

This past weekend we were down in CT for the Ya-Ya Family picnic. Quick explanation, the "ya-ya's" are a group of 7 woman that are fun and crazy!! My mom, as well as 6 other woman formed their little group when all of us kids were spending our summers swimming and sailing at the MYC. The 7 couples all go on vacations and go out to dinner and party together. This was the 1st annual family picnic with all of the 17 kids (including my sister from LA) and 1 grand-kid. It was a blast and fun to catch up with everyone.

THE YA-YA'S

The Husband's

John and I headed down there on Wednesday night, with the boat. The suburban's trailer hitch was out of order so we drove his bosses' truck down. Words cannot describe this thing, see picture below.

We spend all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the boat. It was so much fun to hang with my parents and my sister. I hadn't seem Sam since Thanksgiving!

Beautiful Weekend

Summer finally arrived in VT this weekend. It was a scorcher, 90 degrees all weekend.

Saturday we cheered on T (J's bro). He did the Harpoon Point to Point 110-mile bike ride.
Sunday we were out on the boat all day, 11 to 7! We had a little floatilla going on and just chilled out with a bunch of friends.

Here are some pics...

Lawn Update

Well, I couldn't take it anymore. I called the lawnmowing service and hired them back to mow our lawn. I am so happy right now that I don't have to mow the lawn anymore. The thing is, I actually didn't mind mowing the lawn. The front yard was fine, but when you get to the back yard, forget it. Its so thick and dense (which is a good thing), but with our electric lawn mower (which we are returning) the battery dies QUICK!! It was taking me 3 days to mow the lawn...UNACCEPTABLE.

Now, I can sip my coffee and watch the guys mow the lawn.
A good thing.

Next year we are getting a riding lawnmower, and I couldn't be happier (what happened to me)?!?!

Busy Busy Bee

Remember me, I am playing catch up in the blogging world again (Heather, how do you keep up with 2 blogs?!?!?)

I haven't written in about a week and I know there is a lot of stuff to catch everyone up on.
Let's see....
1. I have been dog walking/sitting. My friend Leslie has a dog walking business and she is in China for 2 weeks, so I am covering for her. Have a bunch of adorable dogs to take for walks and then the three cats, which are awesome!

2. This past Saturday we had not one, but TWO weddings. It was a picture perfect day for the couples. Both weddings were held in Stowe. One at Edson Hill Manor and the other at the Trapp Family Lodge (yes, the family from Sound of Music). I will post pictures soon.

3. I have started running again! I am doing another 1/2 marathon with my BFF Lauren. It is in CT in September...need to run a lot...(i hate running in warm weather)

4. BIG NEWS! I have decided to go back to school. I am going to apply to the Baking and Pastry Arts school at NECI (New England Culinary Constitute). It's a 15-week certificate program followed by a 15-week internship. I am super super excited. It's something I have always wanted to do and seeing a s NECI is so close, why not take the opportunity??

Soooo....i think that's about it. I will post some pictures soon. For now, I am going to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather we have been having here in VT, finally!

Whats goin' on with Piper

So my mom sent piper some new toys in the mail because she got skunked...spoiled dog!
Here she is with her new Winnie the pooh puppy ropey toy.

Another new thing recently is the chipmunk that likes to taunt Piper. I swear this little bugger sits on our steps just to get Pipes all in a tizzy. Piper barks her little head off, in between her little wines, like she is saying "PLEASE LET ME OUTSIDE, please please please"

Here is a pic of the chippy on the stairs and Piper barking...the floor to ceiling windows are not in our favor in this little situation.

How I love flowers...

I bought these almost 2 weeks ago and they still look beautiful! Usually I buy two of the "cheaper" bouquet's. They are usually on sale for $6.99-$8.99 and then I split them among several vases and place them throughout the house.
