An Eco-Minded Showerhead

Everyday I get an e-mail from TRENDCENTRAL NEWS.
Sometimes there is OK info and other times there is great stuff.
Last Friday the e-mail was "Feel Good Picks"
Below is the piece that they wrote about the eco-friendly showerhead.

According to the website, the Roadrunner saves about 8 gallons of water for every 5 minute shower, and while we haven't scientfically tested this ourselves, we have noticed a difference in out monthly statements from the DWP. The device's ShowerStart technology even allows us to multitask in the morning while waiting for the water to heat up, as the water flow is slowed to a trickle until it reaches the 95 degree mark.

US Olympic Trials: Swimming

The Olympic trials for swimming began yesterday and will end on July 3rd. This is my favorite part of the Olympics for swimming, seeing all the amazing swimmers that our country has, and most people don't know about.

Each event starts out with about 50 to 150 swimmers...and only #1 and #2 go to the Olympics. That is after they have trials, semi-finals and then finals. So if you want to make it and you are at the top, you need to have THREE good swims, not just one.

These were the first two events of the night and already WR's are begin broken AND this is only TRIALS. Wait until the Olympics. It is going to be awesome!!!

Today’s events include prelims and semifinals of the women’s 100m backstroke, the men’s 200m freestyle, the women’s 100m breaststroke and the men’s 100m back. Finals will be conducted in the women’s 100m butterfly, men’s 100m breast and women’s 400m free.

A Great White Wine

For those of you that love wine, I have a great bottle that you must try.
Let me begin by saying that I prefer red over white 90% of the time. Last night we had friends over for dinner and they brought a bottle of white over. We were debating whether to open it or open a red. We went for the white. It was a bottle of Benziger Chardonnay. Year 2006. It came from the Sangiacomo Vineyards. It is from their Single Vineyard family of wines. It was AMAZING.

I have never been disappointed by this vineyard. All of their wines are great. Maybe its time to join their wine club!

An interesting fact about this winery is that their wines are certified-sustainable, organic, and Biodynamic. I have posted some info about their winery below.

The Weekend

Hey Everyone!
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I was in CT and then Newport for my friends wedding festivities. I love Newport. If you have never been, you should really go. Its the ultimate New England summer spot (if you don't vacation at one of the "islands" AKA Nantucket, The Vineyard or BI). Its a quick drive up 95. About 2 hours from Fairfield county.

There were 12 of us girls partying that night, and boy did we cause a scene. So much fun.
Its probably the only place where you can get away with wearing madras dresses and pearls to a bachlorette party :)

Not much more to report really...right now. I will post some pics later.

It's Friday...

Not much to post today. Its Friday and we have summer hours, which means I am out of here in about an hour...WOOHOO!!

I am off to Newport today for Ashley's bachlorette party! Hopefully it doesn't rain down there too. Its been raining here all week. No fun.

Weeknight Wines, that is what I call the wine that I like to drink during the week. It's a bottle of wine that is yummy, inexpensive and it doesn't matter if you don't finish the bottle. I have several brands that I like. These are about $6.99 to $10.99

2. Big House Red (which now has a 4 pack which is GREAT for weeknights)
3. Smoking Loon
4. Red Table Wine (by Sineann) This maker has much more expensive bottles too. There is one different thing about this wine, it has a glass cork. I have never seen that before, its pretty cool.

The next wine I am about to tell you about is one of my new favorite Cab Sav's. Its about $13.99 a bottle. It's called "The Show". I first had it at a restaurant and recently found it at a local grocery store.

I Love Top Chef.

I love Top chef. And I love Padma's hair. I just can't seem to get enough of either of them. Last night was the reunion show where Stephanie, Top Chef 4 winner, also won fan favorite. If you have never seen this show, you should start. Its so good. It is also on opposite seasons from Project Runway...works out just swimmingly.

AST Dew Tour

Today begins the first day of the Panasonic Open down in Baltimore...
The AST Dew Tour is a five stop tour that includes Skate Vert and Park, BMX Vert, Dirt and Park and FMX.

This is what I work on about 9 months out of the year at work. I will be traveling to 3 out of the five stops this year, last year I went to all of the stops. It makes for a crazy summer.

Go Celtics!!

Those that know me know that I am not a big NBA fan, I am more of a college basketball gal (GO UCONN), but I have to admit that I have watched the NBA finals this year and it was a lot of fun. Maybe it was the historic rivalry between the Celtics and the Lakers that made it more interesting, or the fact that there was CT representation (RAY ALLEN). Anyway, an epic win last night for the Celtics, they embarrassed the Lakers.

Our House

So, I moved to VT about a year and a half ago and shortly after John and I bought a house. We have been there one year now and we LOVE it. Here is a pic of the house with the great views from the porch.

My First Post

Hello Everyone!
Well, I decided to follow the masses and do a blog. I have done a few before, mainly associated with athletic events that I was training for. This one is just for fun, let everyone know what I am up to in the mountains of Vermont since I made the big move here a year and a half ago.

John and I live in Vermont with our Min Pin Piper. We have a great house that we have been in just one year now. We haven't done anything to the house yet, except move in and enjoy it. I will post some pictures later.
